Community of Hope Hosts Mini-Walk To Raise Homelessness Awareness and Funds

 
Washington, DC – Community of Hope will be hostinga mini-walk with the AppleTree Institute’s Columbia Heights Campus on Wednesday, November 2, 2011, 10:00 AM – 12:15 PM. More than 160 students are expected to participate. Students will participate in a 30 minute homelessness education activity, followed by a 15 minute walk to spread the word in the community.

Innovative Partnership Creates Much Needed Housing for the Homeless

October 13th Ribbon-Cutting Celebrates This Achievement

Washington, DC –Through a unique public-private partnership, 19 formerly homeless families and individuals will now have a place to call home in Ward 8. The ribbon-cutting ceremony for the newly-renovated Mississippi Avenue Apartments will take place at 1320 Mississippi Avenue SE, Washington, DC on Thursday, October 13, 2011 at 11:00 AM.

Family Health and Birth Center to Join the Community of Hope Family

Partnership continues unique birth services and expands primary care

Washington, DC– Community of Hope (COH) and Family Health and Birth Center (FHBC) are proud to announce that FHBC is joining the COH family. COH has taken over operations at FHBC, effective August 13, 2011. Final integration will occur after approval from the DC Department of Health for a Certificate of Need. A Labor Day Health Fair will be held at FHBC on Monday, September 5 from 1:00 - 4:00 PM to celebrate both organizations’ continued commitment to supporting mothers in labor, their children, and the entire family. The event will be at FHBC at 801 17th Street, NE, Washington, DC.

New Health & Resource Center Coming To Underserved Ward 8

Community of Hope’s Facility Will Provide Medical, Dental, and Mental Healthcare

 Washington, DC – Community of Hope, a D.C. nonprofit that provides healthcare and housing for low-income and homeless families, will build a new Health and Resource Center in Ward 8, an area identified by the Department of Health and the DC Primary Care Association as in great need of an additional community health center. Today marks an important first step with the purchase of the property.

Community of Hope’s Executive Director Receives Prestigious Exponent Award

Washington, DC– Community of Hope is proud to announce that its Executive Director, Kelly Sweeney McShane, has been chosen by the Eugene and Agnes E. Meyer Foundation as one of the recipients of the Foundation’s 2009 Exponent Award. The award includes a $100,000 grant over two years to be used for leadership development.

America’s Promise Alliance CEO Opens Bright Space Play Area for D.C. Homeless Children  

Children at Community of Hope Now Have Beautiful Place to Learn and Grow

Washington, D.C.—America’s Promise Alliance president and CEO Marguerite Kondracke, along with members of the nonprofit Bright Horizons Foundation for Children, and faculty from Bright Horizons at 1111 Pennsylvania Avenue Child Care Center, today cut ribbons to officially open a Bright Space for homeless children at Community of Hope. The Bright Space is a dedicated play area for the children, filled with books, games and toys in a warm and beautiful setting, and was funded by a personal gift from Marguerite Kondracke in addition to generous funding from the Freddie Mac Foundation.

Community of Hope Receives Stimulus Money

Washington, DC– The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced on Friday, March 27, 2009 the release of $338 million from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to increase the services offered by the nation’s community health centers.
