Kelly Sweeney McShane, Executive Director
Kelly Sweeney McShane has served as Executive Director of Community of Hope in Washington, DC since January 2001. During that time, the organization has grown from a budget of $1.8 million to $10 million and more than tripled the number of families that it serves. Community of Hope, which was founded in 1980, provides housing for homeless families and affordable, quality healthcare in a family practice model. Kelly previously served as Executive Director of Hannah House, a transitional housing program for homeless women in the District of Columbia, and was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Sierra Leone, West Africa.
Kelly currently serves on the Board of Directors of the DC Primary Care Association and 501cTech and as a member of the Mayor’s Interagency Council on Homelessness, including co-chairing the Strategic Planning Committee. She is a member of the 2006 class of Leadership Greater Washington. She received a Masters in Business Administration from Georgetown University and has a B.A. from Harvard University.
Kelly is a winner of the Eugene and Agnes E. Meyer Foundation's Exponent Award, which recognizes nonprofit leadership. Kelly also was recognized as a Champion of Change by the DC Primary Care Association in 2011. She is the co-author of a book entitled Winning Ways: Great Nonprofit Management Ideas.
She lives in Washington, DC with her husband and three children. Back To Top
Caty Poulin, Chair
Caty Poulin is a finance professional who has volunteered with Community of Hope to build the organization's internal structure in a period of significant growth. She began her career in international development, working for US and international aid organizations to strengthen businesses and financial sectors in developing countries in Europe, Asia, and Africa. She worked on projects to privatize state-owned businesses in former Soviet bloc countries, and to facilitate small and micro-sized loan programs to entrepreneurs who had never had access to capital. She went on to work as a Consultant and Application Architect in the software industry, implementing and customizing product offerings, trained incoming employees, and helped to design the company's project implementation methodology. Caty and her husband Robert have made the Washington, DC area home for the past 20 years. They have two children.
Caty began volunteering with Community of Hope in 2006, and enjoyed serving as the organization's Finance Committee Chair and Board Treasurer from 2007 until 2010. She has an MBA in Finance from American University and a certificate in Nonprofit Management from Georgetown University. Back To Top
